Notes from Tonight’s Business Meeting

Business Meeting October 21 2025

Present: Eleanor of Wolfhou (exchequer), Jasper of Hartshorn-dale (seneschal), Helena Hrolfsdottir (MOAS/webminister), Katharine Ravenshill, John Brice (MOL), Celestria (chatelain), Signy Biarnarsdottir, Valla-Ragna in Spakka

Officer Reports

Seneschal: 

• Adventure Brewing Demo on Saturday, 5 Canton members came out, fencing & dancing, several interested people took brochures
• Defending the Gate: approval to conflict with Performer’s Revel on March 28th granted as long as we don’t hold bardic, contract sent to site waiting for approval at the site’s monthly board meeting, spike entry updated with new date and the rest of the details

Exchequer:

• seneschal and new exchequer went to the bank to work on paperwork to add her to the bank account, waiting on further signatures to finalize, bank wanted to set up a full new signature card
• need to actually purchase the exchequer software

MOAS:

• September: goldwork embroidery & dance in September
• Oct 28 Nalbinding class in the library in meeting room 1 at 6pm
• Nov 4 dance practice in library theater room at 6pm
• Nov 25 bronze age coins class in meeting room 4 at 6pm

Webminister:

• website is functioning
• join the email group! groups.google.com and search for “sudentorre news” – new members need to be approved by webminister
• check canton calendar for events, non-officers email webminister@sudentorre.atlantia.sca.org to add events to the calendar
• need to set up a page for Defending the Gate

MOL:

• MOL is doing MOL Holiday Faire
• MOL email has been activated

Chatelaine:

• added garb to gold key
• new heavy fighter practice in Battle Barn that Bumi is running, loaner gear is available
• some people have reached out via email
• looking to add events to the canton calendar
• looking to add a middle eastern dance class,  need to work out details including rent for space

Defending the Gate:

• spiked
• waiting on the contract signature from the site
• exchequer is looking into the ability to take cards at the gate
• positions needed: kitchen expediter, server wrangler, hall steward, marshall-in-charge, parking reeves, gofers
• Battle of Marignano in northern Italy 1515; French w/Venetian & German mercenaries vs Old Swiss Confederacy
• We have a preliminary budget – find updated costs: portajohns, uhaul & kitchen equipment
• budget sent to start working on SCORES
• will set up a site walk-through with Darrell on an upcoming Saturday

Holiday Faire:

• Nov 22nd @ Fredericksburg Fairgrounds
• Event help needed: looking to use the Canton list fences – Jasper will bring to site
• kitchen help needed: 3-4 kitchen hands & 2-3 people for serving & 1-2 runners to take food to merchants – morning for lunch set up
• gofers needed to check beverages for hospitality
• court herald needed since baronial herald is the event steward
• looking for performances (theater, music & bardic) for the building with a stage
• looking for vendors!
