Defending the Gate 2024

Come Defend the Gates of Sudentorre!

Please join the Canton of Sudentorre for our event, Defending the Gate XV on March 23th, 2024 from 9am – 8pm!

Join us to recreate the Retaking of Otranto, 1481. Seeing the Ottomans as a threat to his home, Alfonso of Aragon left his battles with the Florentines to lead a campaign to liberate Otranto from the Ottoman invaders from August 1480. The city was finally retaken in the spring of 1481 by Alfonso’s troops, supported by forces of King Matthias Corvinus of Hungary.

Activities

Martial Activities! There will be Armored Tournaments using the Gate of Sudentorre, Rapier Tournaments, Thrown Weapons, and Archery. This event is also participating in the Titan Challenge.

Arts & Sciences Activities:  “I would like to invite all members of our wonderful populace to create an A&S display for the event. Displays are an informal way to share the interesting Arts and Sciences projects you’ve been working on, including projects that are not yet done. Remember that the Arts and Sciences can include all types of things, from the costumes we wear, and the armor used in combat, to culinary and performing arts. Some of us are returning to play after some time away and others are new to our group but this is something anyone of any level can do.” Contact Lady Rita Die Perle Von Der Wetterau (Rita McDowell) acr2j2m6@yahoo.com) for more information

Court: We will be saying fond farewell to Baroness Genefe Wolfelin and Baron Wulff Nuremberger and welcoming our new Baronage
