April and May in the Canton of Sudentorre

We are the local branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism for Caroline County, King George County, Spotsylvania County, Stafford County, and Fredericksburg. Our parent group which covers most of Northern Virginia is the Barony of Stierbach, which is part of the Kingdom of Atlantia. Come join us for some fun medieval activities!

Business Meeting and Social Times

Our April Canton business meeting takes place tonight, April 16th, at the Fredericksburg Library in the theater room. We are back to our usually scheduled time of 7-9pm, but we do have the space starting at 6pm. If you want to come early to hang out you’re welcome. Even better, bring a project and craft with us. If you would like to participate online, I will open the google meet link at 7pm (https://meet.google.com/mdr-yntv-pqn). Next month’s meeting is on Tuesday May 21st.

Activities and Practices

Armored rattan fighter practice takes place on Wednesdays, weather permitting, from 6:30-9:00pm at 26 Richland Rd, Fredericksburg, VA 22406. Contact Thorgrimr Kraka for more information: thorgrimrsca@gmail.com

Fencing practice takes place on the University of Mary Washington campus in the Goolrick Fitness Center Auxiliary Gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8-10pm. This is a teaching practice, so newcomers are welcome and there is loaner gear available! Please contact Aylisia de Oliveri (april@moonlitoak.net) with questions.

Renaissance Dance practice will take place on Tuesday April 23rd and Tuesday May 14th, in the Fredericksburg library theater from 6-8pm. As always, no prior dance experience or partner is needed! Wear comfortable clothes and shoes you can walk in. 

Looking ahead

Demo: We have been asked to return to the Adventure Brewing Renaissance Fest this June! The event will take place on June 22nd. Please plan to join us… last year we had some dancing and some fencing demonstrations.
